(Monday, 14 April)
Ran around the Arroyo real slow. Calves are still sore! And generally tired a bit in general. The hot weather has been kind of an energy downer. It felt nice to be on the trail.
(Tuesday, 15 April)
Took it easy with Heather around South Pas. I decided to go to Stanford today. I felt really bad calling the Washington folks. But, the decision is now made, and I'm going to make the best of it. The best part is the planning of next year - that's what will ease the anxiety of the decision I think!
I got all grumpy in the afternoon, I don't know why, I guess because of the relief of having made the decision. It's over now though.
(Wednesday, 16 April)
Whoof, took a breather today. Did 800-200s on the track with Heather for company. My times were a bit inconsistent, but it might have been due to the fact that there was a whole herd of little kids from Poly that I was dodging around parts of the time (hence the 88). Here's the workout (courtesy of Ian):
800 at 5k pace, short break, 200 at 1500 pace. (I started the 200 4 minutes after the 800 start). Long break (3 minutes. [this times 5.] Times:
3.10 (96/94) 38
3.04 (88/96) 40
3.10 (91/99) 42
3.12 (97/95) 40
3.05 (92/93) 39.
So, a decent workout. Looking back, the point was probably practicing the two gears, which I totally missed. Oh well, I still did some fast running.
(Thursday, 17 April)
Shins a bit sore, possibly from basketball class? Ran on the grass just in case, timed Sierra's 300s, which was very exciting because she's hellsa fast. Cool! Very nice day today.
(Friday, 18 April)
2-on-1-off times 6 with Kangway and Scott at Lacy. Felt good to run fast! I was tired afterwards though. :) My shins are still a wee bit sore but not as bad as yesterday. There was also a giant swarm of bees at Lacy - WTF?
After practice I grabbed free food on campus, saw Sairyann!, then cruised the town with Rene and Higgles, which was pretty great! Except for the part where I stuffed my face with fudge. That was not a good idea.
(Saturday, 19 April)
Got myself out of bed and was glad to see Mark's bike when I made it to the Arroyo - we did 50 minutes pretty easy although I did get a bit of a side-cramp the last mile or so, but maybe it was because I was talking too much. The dirt felt good. My legs were a bit tired from yesterday's workout, but my shins feel fine. In the afternoon I worked on bikes with Megumi, Peter, and Ian, which was ideal.
(Sunday, 20 April)
Rode bikes with Dave and Ian. I love my new and improved bike! Soooo good. I'm getting pumped for riding it around a lot in the near future. Maybe it's my imagination, but I swear I can tell that the BB is smoother now. I'm not sure about the longer crank arms; maybe they will be bad for my knees? But, maybe it will be good for climbing....

I'm sorry I didn't make it to the Arroyo. I wanted to, but at some point when it was 8:00 in the morning and my bed was warm, I realized that my fixed gear had no brakes and the huge hill between Marengo and Arroyo, and then the huge hill right before Arroyo could be absolutely disasterous.
In any case, some other time for sure!
