So, I guess I am a lucky duckling. There's a team of likeminded gals who had an injured runner and needed a pinch hitter, and I guess they contacted Scott and Julie which is how I got the memo. Also, apparently I am now a personal trainer.
Susan has got me pretty pumped up about this relay, since she had such a good time when she did it last year. Although, I'm glad I have it pretty easy, because the runner I'm replacing didn't have difficult leg assignments. I'm runner 11, and my three legs are 4.4 miles, 4.2 miles, and 7.4 miles long, with only the last one rated "hard" (the other two are supposed to be easy). One of the legs even goes by a place that Ian used to run. Cool.

Took an easy day today. I went to the gym and lifted, and then I swam for 20 minutes (it was about all I could take for tiredness and boringness). I also sat outside for a little bit, which was nice. I liked being in the water; it felt very novel and fun. But, at the same time, I also felt super uncoordinated. I kind of want to take a swim lesson.
(Tuesday, 12 August)
Ran easy in the AM fog with Sedona, Susan, and Stephanie. Stephanie had a rather impressive fall on one of the death cracks on Lombardy and turned back, so I hope she's okay. The easy run felt really good, and once again, it's surprising how short 6.5 miles feels these days. I'm going to take it really relaxed for the next couple of days, I think.
(Wednesday, 13 August)
Rode Wilson with Heather. It was very relaxed, but still really fun to be up there. It had been a little while. It was nice outside.
(Thursday, 14 August)
Worked all day on getting the bike rack on my car. Bah. I am now an expert in installing both Thule and Yakima racks, if anyone ever wants one installed!
(Friday, 15 August)
Drive to Oakland. Dave is good company!
(Saturday, 16 August)
Aunt Jane birthday bike ride! Healdsburg is pretty nice... I shunned running after the ride for wine tasting. It was a great choice! I really liked talking chemistry with these guys.
(Sunday, 17 August)
Nice run with Andi around Healdsburg. What a nice run! We're pretty well matched, actually. It was really fun, and we had such a nice chat, I felt like I was getting to really talk to her for the first time. Lovely. The two of us should do more runs together.
