After a great deal of thought, I've decided not to bring my computer down to San Diego with me this summer. Now, I know this will cause dismay to a lot of people -- after all, I *am* a computer scientist, right?! I figure, I'm going to be working all day at my computer at work. Shouldn't I give the poor fingers and wrists a rest and destroy my vision instead?
So, I'm hoping y'all can help me find a good solid pile of books to take with me. Here is what's on the list so far:
"Nightmare Town", by Dashiell Hammett. I've been halfway through this collection of short stories for a while now.
"Running with the Buffaloes", by Chris Lear. I think I'm the only one that hasn't read this.
"Bowermen and the Men of Oregon", Kenny Moore. Kiesz seems to be enjoying it.
"Red Harvest", Hammett. I've read this before but I'd like to read it again.
The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin (Rosenstone said it was a book everyone should read).
"No Future without Forgiveness", Desmond Tutu.
"Miracle in the Andes", Nando Parrado. I liked "Alive" so this might be interesting.
Something about Denmark.
Let me know your suggestions. What are your favorite books? I just want stuff that I'm going to enjoy to read -- either really interesting, really page-turn-y, really funny or suspenseful, whatever. If you give me a book, I promise to read it. One book for every homeslice!

I can't believe I remembered to stop my watch. Should've run faster.

my new favorite book is Jacques the Fatalist by Diderot.... I'll get a copy to you ;)
If you need a copy of Running with the Buffaloes, I let Kiesz borrow my copy. He said he probably won't get around to it anytime soon, so if you need one just ask him for it.
