(Monday, 28 April)
Took it easy again, did the whole basketball thing but other than that I just kind of hung out. Nice to feel relaxed.
(Tuesday, 29 April)
Rode with Tracy; did some hill intervals (girl's school, Flintridge, some other one I was too out of it to understand what was going on). My legs are sooo weak. All day since this I've been feeling pathetic and my legs are like "eff this" so. I think I will run tomorrow.
Other than the burning quads, it was very nice to be on the bike.
To do:
build a new set of wheels
figure out what is wrong with the front Shimano R500
exchange crank arms for 170s, the 175s are bullshit and make my left knee hurt
readjust cleats on shoes, since I adjusted them because of above.
(Wednesday, 30 April)
Decided today I'm going to do the 1500 on the 10th. The 10k just seemed too... daunting. And also I feel like a 5.03 (5.02 for Ian) with a 87 first lap is a silly PR to have. If I run slower than that, fine, but if I run faster and evener, it will be well worth it.
I ran easy and did basketball class today, and I also tried my hand at the shot, which was pretty fun. Don't let me get near a long-jump pit though, because that was a disaster. Let's just say I ended up covered in sand. I must have jumped pretty far though, because Julie said "I wish I had that on video!" and she and Higbee and Rene were laughing, they were so happy for me.
(Thursday, 1 May)
Trackola with Mr. Shapiro, I was a little wary to get up that early but the little chickadees were scratchin' and fluffin' and it was getting pretty loud anyways. We did 5x400 with 2 minutes rest in between at race pace; 80.5/80/79/77/75. I wore my spikes.
I was worried about being able to hold 80s, but I guess I didn't need to be. Ian really helped me stay in it on 4 and 5; I had him lead 4 and then tried to race him on 5, and it made it tons easier.
I wonder if I'm still peaking, or if it was the shoes, or the rest, or all three. My legs felt pretty good, and I wasn't breathing too hard or too crazy-tired like I felt after the 3 81/82s I did with 40 seconds rest last week. Suggestions for what I should do before Oxy? The only plan is tomorrow run easy, Saturday bike easy, Sunday bike race in SD, then next week is open.
(Friday, 2 May)
Ran with Susan! It was nice - a bit longer than I wanted, and a bit faster than I wanted - but well worth the good company.
(Saturday, 3 May)
Rode out to Claremont. My stupid BB was all messed up so it was super stressful, but it was nice to be on the bike. I wish that I hadn't been messing with it the whole time. The track meet was cool though! Very nice day.
(Sunday, 4 May)
Lovely bike race in San Luis Rey - beautiful course, and the bike was fine after Ian fixed it last night :). Too bad I got dropped. But, I had a great ride and Tracy was fine company, and even treated me to a date at Mimi's cafe with her winnings from last week. Me + convertible + Caltech velo hat = HOT!
