I can't believe I remembered to stop my watch. Should've run faster.

This is going to be interesting.

I'm having some conflicting feelings about this summer right now. I am a little bummed about leaving Pasadena because I feel like I was just getting a good thing going there. But, that's what I'll have preseason for, I suppose. Maybe next year won't be as hard academically (yeah right). San Diego is going to be fun once we get in a routine -- so far we (Lisa and I) can't seem to get ahold of... anyone. I mean, for goodness sakes, Caltech already is paying us, what more do they want? We even went to Lisa's prof's office and he wasn't even there. Uhh... hey. Maybe we should go to the beach tomorrow.

But, everyone here is really friendly and relaxed seeming. There's a lot more sporty folks around. The old 101 between Solana Beach and UCSD is like a bike freeway. (Except for all the cars.) Yesterday on the bike I ran into a fellow who was doing the same route I was and he took me along all the shortcuts. Way cool. There are definitely some opportunities here to get in amazing shape.

This morning I was going to get my bike worked on to get those panniers on, and David (Lesley, who I'm living with) said "Well, you gotta go into work some time. I mean, you can't work on your bike all summer". I was like... can't I?

i win! i found my professor and saw her house (which she is remodeling) and talked for over an hour. it was fantastic. i'm excited... and now we're finally working on a project. i'm currently thinking that my project will have something to do with design to help prevent disease spreading in densely urban communities. that way i can attempt to combine some engineering with some bio with some architecture. yay! i may need to learn fluid dynamics.. hm. wish me luck!

I am so proud... My professor is still AWOL ("Denmark" his colleagues claim -- I think it may be a careful ploy to avoid me). But Lisa and I met her prof, who was very friendly and encouraging and is going to get us set up on Monday. Yay! I can't wait to hear more about your adventures.
